What shall I read?

Well, our summer holiday has been and gone: three weeks resting on the beautiful Cumbria coast. And yes, we managed to do most of the things we had planned. We decided to forget Helvellyn this time round but we did manage to scramble up the Old Man of Coniston. John hitched a lift on Dad’s back; Vicky rode in comfort in Mum’s baby-sling; Jesse did it all under his own steam. And Griff came too.

Friends

I’ve just waved goodbye to one of my oldest friends. Martin Bussey arrived at the manse this afternoon with his wife Claudia and his two youngest boys. They were heading from Leicester up to the Lake District for a week’s holiday and stopped here for what turned into a very long lunch. So we’ve spent the afternoon looking at photos and reminiscing about old times.

Family worship

Many thanks to all who have helped us cope with the demands of the last few weeks. I’m especially grateful for the men who stood in to take meetings while I was on ‘paternity leave’. It’s just a lot of mumbo-jumbo?
