Dealing with a Dangerous Man (5:1-20)

We look at the account of the miraculous deliverance of the man with a Legion of unclean spirits and consider the various ways we see in the account of dealing with dangerous men. We also consider the ways our lives are mirrored in this incident.


It means what it says

I recently re-read an old and familiar friend: J.R.R Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ for the first time in 15 years. It’s one of the most well-known and widely read books in the English language and in consequence many theories have been devised about it.


An end has come! (7:1-27)

Ezekiel had the grim task of announcing that time had run out for the people to whom he preached. Their day of Judgement had come. For us, the day of salvation and mercy has dawned – but how long will it last?


Entering the true Jerusalem (24:50-53)

We look back over the story of Jesus as told by Luke. How does it end? It ends with Jesus the King entering in triumph to the real Jerusalem. The centre of his kingdom was not to be the earthly Jerusalem which was doomed to destruction, but the heavenly Jerusalem which endures forever.


When is a lie a lie?

Reading through the Old Testament with four children is a challenge. One issue that has come up a number of times has been the importance of telling the truth, and whether it’s ever right to deceive somebody.
