Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25)

Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus that their brother was ill. Jesus arrived, to meet a grief-stricken Martha, only after the man had died and lain 4 days in the tomb. What did he mean by telling her that he is the resurrection and the life?


Success, Failure and the Gospel (4:3-4)

It is easy to feel discouraged when our efforts at evangelism seem to fail, while others see “success”. Should we change our methods? Or our message? Paul faced that question and had his answer ready.


Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd” (John 10:14)

Jesus told people he was the good shepherd; and they said he was mad and had a demon. A little later, they picked up stones to stone him. Why such a reaction?


Telling it as it is (4:1-2)

Paul knew that he had to commend himself to the conscience of his hearers. How could he do that? By telling the unvarnished truth.


Jesus said… “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12)

At the feast of Tabernacles, the Jews remembered their journey through the wilderness, guided by God as pillar of fire and cloud. At the feast of Tabernacles, in the Temple, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world”.
