A summons to hear God’s Word and respond. Those who ignore it face disaster. Those who trust and obey God’s commands will be kept through the disaster and can look forward to the coming of the King.

The man of the Gerasenes had been wrecked by the power of demons, yet Jesus restored him.  Demons are still wrecking the lives of countless people.  And Jesus is still defeating them and restoring broken damaged human beings to the image of God.

What is the central message of the Bible? Paul declared that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”.   And he knew it was true for he had been the worst.

Jesus was confronted by a man who had demons.  What had the demons done to that man’s personality and life?  What are demons doing to people in our society today?  It is not just a tiny number of people who “have demons”.  Every fallen human being follows the dictates of Satan, “the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience”.

2011 is the 400th anniversary of the publication of the Authorised Version.  The BBC has given over a Sunday on radio 4 to readings from the AV.  Hundreds of events are planned across the UK, and indeed the world,  to mark the anniversary.
