Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25)

Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus that their brother was ill. Jesus arrived, to meet a grief-stricken Martha, only after the man had died and lain 4 days in the tomb. What did he mean by telling her that he is the resurrection and the life?
