This claim of Jesus is very offensive to a pluralistic culture. But it was the truth a troubled believer needed to hear.
Paul could sum up his preaching in three words. He preached Jesus. He preached Christ. He preached the Lord.
Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus that their brother was ill. Jesus arrived, to meet a grief-stricken Martha, only after the man had died and lain 4 days in the tomb. What did he mean by telling her that he is the resurrection and the life?
It is easy to feel discouraged when our efforts at evangelism seem to fail, while others see "success". Should we change our methods? Or our message? Paul faced that question and had his answer ready.
Jesus told people he was the good shepherd; and they said he was mad and had a demon. A little later, they picked up stones to stone him. Why such a reaction?
