Paul knew that he had to commend himself to the conscience of his hearers. How could he do that? By telling the unvarnished truth.
At the feast of Tabernacles, the Jews remembered their journey through the wilderness, guided by God as pillar of fire and cloud. At the feast of Tabernacles, in the Temple, Jesus said, "I am the light of the world".
As a servant of the new covenant, Paul knew he could not use unworthy methods or tamper with God's message. Are we ready to follow his example?
